Radiophile Teaching Workshops
Next Workshop: 13th / 14th January 2018 at Wistanswick
Radiophile Teaching Workshops offer one-to-one tuition for anyone interested in repairing or restoring vintage radios. No previous experience or skills are required - expert help will be on hand throughout the day. Just bring a basic tool kit, a soldering iron, and one or two sets to work on. The aim is to get everyone's sets to work by the end of the day.
Each day will start at 9:00am and usually finish around 6:00pm
Tea and coffee plus biscuits and cakes will be available, but we recommend that participants should bring a packed lunch to be eaten at a time of their own choosing so as to avoid interrupting their particular work in hand.
Please book as soon as possible to confirm your place as there is a limit on the number of participants on each day in order that everyone has ample time to complete their projects. There is a local B&B just 2 minutes walk away for those who want to stay in the area - contact the admin office for contact details.
The cost of attendance is £30 for either the Saturday or Sunday - or book both days for £50. Payments may be made by cheque posted to the admin office or by credit / debit card by telephone - please see the contacts page for details and be sure to specify which day you will be attending.
For those who have not previously attended a Workshop, please be assured that whatever your level of competence you will find sympathetic assistance from highly experienced engineers. We look forward to seeing you!
Special Note for owners of D.C. only mains receivers: Our team has designed and built a dedicated power supply unit to enable such sets to be operated on ordinary A.C. supples. We invite you to bring any such sets along to be tested / repaired under actual working conditions. There will be no extra charge for this service which will offer a unique opportunity for sets which may not have been heard for many years to produc sounds of long ago, thanks to our pantry transmitter and recordings of pre-war radio programmes.
